On April 25 at 9:30 AM, we will hold a field visit in Pergamino to tour the trial of the open-pollinated maize variety Originales24, developed alongside Enrico Cresta in organic production systems.
The event aims to build upon concrete experience:
learning how this variety was developed, what decisions were made throughout the process, and how it currently performs in the field. During the tour, dialogue will be opened regarding selection criteria, crop management, and key learnings, incorporating the perspectives of all participants.
In addition, the experience of registering the variety with INASE will be shared, addressing what this process entails and what possibilities it opens up for those working with open-pollinated seeds.
In a second stage, a broader conversation will be proposed regarding seed development in the hands of producers, its challenges and potential, and a work proposal for the 2026–27 campaign will be presented, oriented towards those who want to become more actively involved.
The activity is aimed at producers and advisors interested in seeds, agroecological production, and their own development strategies.
During the day, no seed delivery or distribution will take place.

Morning: Gathering and field tour
Reception and check-in: Welcome to participants and opening of the gathering.
Field experiences: We will learn the history of the Original – Bioleft maize variety with Enrico Cresta. We will tour the trial to observe crop performance and share selection criteria in organic systems.
Midday: Network collaboration
Seeds and regulations: A discussion space on variety registration and the specific characteristics of open-pollinated seeds with Alfredo Zeballos, Gustavo Schrauf, and Almendra Cremaschi.
Participatory breeding: Discussion on participatory maize breeding and the potential of diversified systems.
2026–2027 Projections: Presentation of the work proposal for the upcoming campaign and ways to join the network.
Closing
Exchange space: Open block for questions, debate, and group conclusions.
Lunch: Informal gathering among attendees.
