During the pre-conference of the Organic World Congress on September 6, Almendra Cremaschi shared the work that Bioleft has been doing as part of the talk “Seed Commons – preserving farming rights to seed, addressing intellectual property restrictions”.
During the same talk, François Meienberg presented on seed regulations, their restrictions for farmers and plant breeders and the challenges of organic agriculture for them. In turn, Sujit Chakrabarty shared India’s experience in protecting farmers’ rights.
Finally, there were discussions on the challenges regarding intellectual property laws, on what is the future we want, and then put it together in plenary and reflect on what each of us can do as agents of change.
