We were invited to participate in the summer issue 2020 of XRDS &#8211; Crossroads, theAssociation for Computing Machinery (ACM) Magazine for Students. ACM is the oldest association dedicated to computing in the world. This thematic number is entitled &#8220;View Source&#8221;. Our article is dedicated to exploring how the ideas of the open source movement can be applied to living, self-replicating organisms such as seeds.
